The Illinois State men’s tennis team is heading west this weekend to Wichita, Kan. for the Missouri Valley Conference Championship tournament. The Redbirds are currently in fourth place in the MVC with a conference record of 2-3 and an overall record of 9-14. Ahead of ISU is Southern Illinois (3-2, 12-5), Wichita State (4-1, 15-7) and Drake (5-0, 23-2).

As a kid I was always involved in sports. My mom shoved me into soccer, T-ball, gymnastics, and encouraged me to play football and basketball outside with my brothers at home. I always had fun learning how to play a new sport, even if I wasn’t that great at it. I think it was more about being socially involved by meeting new kids and getting a good amount of physical activity in.

After Tuesday’s game against Purdue got rained out, the Illinois State baseball team went back to work on Wednesday to earn its fifth-straight win after harnessing a doubleheader sweep against MacMurray at Duffy Bass Field. The Redbirds are now perched on a 24-16 record.
