The Bloomington Police Department is requesting information in regard to two possibly connected robberies that occurred early Monday.
According to a BPD report, at approximately 5:30 a.m. Monday police responded to the 900 block of West Front Street for an armed robbery.
When they arrived, they found a man with minor injuries. The man told police that he was robbed by a group of five young men.
The report stated that one of the suspects was holding a gun, while the others battered the man, taking an undisclosed amount of cash and property.
One of the suspects was wearing white pants and a black shirt while the other was wearing yellow pants and a black jacket.
Nearly one hour after this incident, at approximately 6:30 a.m., police responded to another armed robbery incident on the 100 block of Oak Creek Plaza.
According to the report, a group of five young men, dressed in all black, snuck into a residence and when they encountered the resident, demanded cash. No weapon was displayed, and no injuries were reported.
The men stole an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene in the resident’s 2009 white Nissan Sentra. The vehicle has not been located at this time.
The vehicle has visible damage behind the driver’s side front tire and on the rear bumper there is a visible outline of a “C” where a Chicago Bears sticker once was.
No arrests have been made at this time and police encourage anyone with information to contact BPD Detective Paul Jones.
The BPD said that while these incidents are similar, it is not yet determined if they are related.
