The Illinois State University board of trustees approved a Connect Transit contract and construction of a new restaurant for spring 2020.
The transit contract will cost $289,068 for student, faculty and staff transportation until June 2020.
ISU will cover the cost of the contract with student fees. Many students rely on Connect Transit buses to travel between work, campus and residences.
This fiscal year, the university will pay $567,018 to Connect Transit for its services.
Additionally, the Board of Trustees solidified the construction of Star Ginger Asian and Noodle restaurant in the Bone Student Center.
The new dining option is set to open on the second floor in spring 2020.
The operation costs $1.3 million and includes a food production space, serving area and graphic design materials. The corporate Star Ginger company requires these components at every chain restaurant.
