The signs of the end of summer are all around: Lollapalooza, back-to-school sales and the creeping invasion of college students returning to town for the fall semester.

For Normal, that invasion begins again today. From August 5 to August 18 students will be moving back into Watterson Towers, Hewitt and Manchester Halls, Tri-Towers and Cardinal Court.

According to the Illinois State University website, over 6,000 students will return to campus withing the next two weeks. Student have been assigned move-in dates based on their dorm and room assignment.

While move-in begins today, most students will not arrive until August 14 and 15. Sixty percent of all students moving in will move in during those two days.

To accommodate for move-in, there will be several street closures throughout the area. Starting August 12, North Street will be one-way from School Street to Fell Avenue, which covers the area directly in front of Watterson Towers. Fell Avenue will also be one-way from Mulberry Street to College Avenue by Hewitt and Manchester Halls. Fell Avenue will be closed from North Street and College Avenue, which is between Watterson and Hewitt and Manchester Halls. Fell Street will also be closed for all northbound traffic.

Families and students will not have to move in alone, there will be more than 300 volunteers throughout the move-in period to assist with unloading items from cars and securing carts for elevators. More information about move-in, what items are permitted and traffic patterns, see the University Housing website.
