Illinois State University recently announced its enrollment numbers for the 2020-2021 academic school year. Official enrollment numbers were put together after the 10th day of classes.

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, the total enrollment stands at 20,720 students with the addition of 3,353 freshmen. The total student population includes 17,987 undergraduates and 2,733 graduate students.

The graduate student enrollment went up 4% compared to last fall, while transfer student numbers for the year stand at 1,678. International enrollment remained steady with a total of 547 students.

This year's freshman class comes in with a high school GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, an average ACT score near 24 and an average SAT score of 1125. More than 400 freshmen are in the Honors Program.

Of ISU's freshman class, 31% comes from traditionally underrepresented groups, bringing the total student population coming from traditionally underrepresented groups percentage to 27%.

The number of African American students at ISU increased by 5% while the number of Hispanic students increased by 2%.
