The McLean County Health Department has just received its delayed shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Many appointments were canceled last week due to weather-related issues, but new appointment dates have recently been announced. The vaccinations will take place at the Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington.
Appointments that were canceled on Feb. 16 will now be scheduled for Thursday. Those that were canceled on Friday will now be scheduled for Tuesday.
Time slots will remain the same, and only the day of the appointment will change.
MCHD is still waiting to open additional clinics for when the vaccine supply allows. It has taken some time for more vaccine shipments to come in for first doses.
Individuals do not need to call ahead of time to confirm their appointments. An email is being sent out to all those affected by these unprecedented circumstances.
MCHD will also make sure to include in the email the instructions to reschedule an appointment if there appears to be a conflict.
At this time, MCHD's partners from Carle BroMenn Medical Center have delivered over 4000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. McLean County has administered over 6,600 doses to its residents.
They want to make it clear that everyone who wants a COVID-19 vaccine will get one eventually, it will just take some time.
