A “significant severe weather threat” has been issued for Saturday afternoon and evening for the Bloomington-Normal area by the National Weather Service in Lincoln.

The notice said that the greatest threat of severe weather will be between 2 p.m. and midnight. Storm hazards could include “significant” tornadoes. Storms could also include hail up to the size of golf balls and wind gusts of over 60 mph.
The NWS urges residents to be alert to storm developments and to know where to take shelter if a storm occurs.
In addition to Bloomington-Normal, other communities facing the storm threat include Springfield, Decatur, Jacksonville, Havana, Lincoln, Pekin, Peoria, Canton, Galesburg and Champaign.
