Thursday, a Normal man tried to strangle a woman because he thought she was the devil. He was charged with attempted murder and domestic battery.
The man charged, Asa Stover, 20, did not appear on the recorded video because he was combative with officers.
McLean County State’s Attorney Jason Chambers said, “It took six officers and about 10 to 15 minutes to get him into a restraint chair.”
A statement releases the fact that Stover choked the female victim shortly after midnight Tuesday at his home.
Stover stated that he thought he had killed her; it is clear that he was attempting murder.
Stover’s bond was set at $750,000 and he is due in court for an arraignment Friday.
Stover told officers that he had been on PCP for days. PCP is otherwise known as Phencyclidine. Side effects consist of hallucinations and mania. PCP is said to cause users to feel detached from society and their surroundings. The drug was taken off the market in 1965.
