At approximately 4:17 a.m. Wednesday, the Normal Police Department responded to the 400 block of West Vernon to a report of a domestic dispute with a single shot fired.

Walter D. Hill, 25, of Normal, was arrested and is being held pending review by the McLean County States Attorney on the following charges: aggravated discharge of a firearm statute, felon possession of weapon and criminal damage to property.

Officers located a vehicle in a parking lot with damage consistent with that caused by a bullet. A handgun and shell casing were also located in the area.

Preliminary investigation revealed the male in custody was in a dispute with a female in the 400 block of West Vernon Avenue when the firearm was discharged.

No injuries have been reported to law enforcement and crime scene technicians have processed the vehicle and area for additional evidence. No students were involved.

NPD is continuing to investigate this incident.
