TEDxNormalis returning to Illinois State University; the event has been in Normal for five years now.   

TEDxNormalis a locally organized event consisting of various speakers.  

This event will be held at 9 a.m. Nov. 16 in the Concert Hall at the Center for Performing Arts.

This year’s theme is ‘What does it mean to be truly Authentic?’ 

Julie Workman, Co-Chair marketing of TEDxNormal, said she hopes people walk out with an experience of a lifetime.   

“It’s about the speakers and the people who we are really hoping come to the event and walk away with just having a great experience,” Workman said. “Because there are some really talented people that have been working really hard on their Ted Talks.” 

In the past,TEDxNormal has attracted over 300 people in attendance with a mix of students, residents and people from different backgrounds.   

TEDX are licensed by TED but take place in different communities all across the world, such as universities. This event is organized by volunteers who recruit speakers who match their theme.   

Guests will have an opportunity to meet speakers during coffee hour before the event and during breaks. Doors will open at 8 a.m.   

Tickets are $20 for the general public and $10 for students with proper ID.  

Tickets are available in person at the Center for Performing Arts or online. 

“We hope attendees from the event can walk away with some kind of helpful insight that they didn’t have before for them personally, and what it means to be authentic and live their authentic lives and who they want to be,” Workman said.
