Offensive lineman Drew Himmelman (No. 71) received MVFC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors following the Redbirds' Homecoming victory against Southern Illinois.

While running backs James Robinson and Markel Smith racked up especially impressive numbers in Saturday's Homecoming triumph, their highlight reels would not be complete without the stellar play of the boys in the trenches.

Illinois State offensive lineman Drew Himmelman was named as the Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week, announced Monday.

Helping Robinson reach two career milestones in career rushing yards (2000+) and single-game yards (202), this is Himmelman's first MVFC honor in his career at ISU and the sixth for a Redbird player this season.

Himmelman was named a HERO Sports FCS Freshman All-American in 2017 following his redshirt freshman season. He was also selected to the MVFC All-Newcomer Team as he has started in all six games so far this season.

No. 7/8 FCS-ranked Illinois State (5-1, 2-1 MVFC) now faces a tough road test, traveling to Fargo, North Dakota, this upcoming Saturday to take on the No. 1 ranked North Dakota State (6-0, 3-0 MVFC) in arguably ISU's most important Missouri Valley Conference matchup all year.

The Redbirds are set for kickoff against the Bison at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Fargodome.
