The Illinois State University women's tennis team wrapped up a solid fall season with a strong Redbird Invite finishing the two-day invite with a record of 14-4 in singles play and 4-2 in doubles play.

"Today was a challenging day physically and I thought we handled that well and played very well in singles," ISU head coach Maja Kovacek said. "It was a good way to finish off the fall season."

Teammates clashed in the championship in the second flight. Junior Laura Fitzgerald took down Ivon Mihaleva.

Senior Jelena Vujicic took down IUPUI's Sarah Lounsberry in two sets (6-4,6-1). Vujicic and doubles partner Tara Damnjanovic also took second in their flight

"It felt very emotional to be back on the home court after being injured last year," Jelena Vujicic said about her consolation win. "I am happy with my performance on the last day here at the invite. It gives me a lot of confidence and excitement for the spring season."

Damnjanovic also took home third place in flight one.

The Redbirds will be back in action during the Spring season, starting on Jan. 24, 2020 in Normal against the Eastern Illinois Panthers.
