The Redbirds have finalized their schedule for the 2017 football season.

The redbirds will open the season against Butler before taking their bye in week two. Continuing the 106edition of the Mid-American Classic the Birds will travel to Charleston on Sept.16 to take on Eastern Illinois. Homecoming will be played against South Dakota Oct. 21. While the team opens November with in state rival Western. The Redbirds will end their season hosting four time FCS champion North Dakota State at Hancock Stadium.

The Big Sky has been added to the non-conference schedule. The Redbirds will travel out west to take on Northern Arizona Oct.7. In 2019 the Lumberjacks will come to Bloomington-Normal. The two teams have yet to face each other. The redbirds are familiar with the Big sky however, with wins over Eastern Washington and Southern Utah.
