The Illinois State University fall sports have been nothing short of remarkable, and after yet another winning weekend, the undefeated streak continues for football, volleyball and soccer.
The soccer team improved to 12-5 on the season and 6-0 in the Valley, which makes it the second consecutive year the Birds have taken the conference title outright.
The volleyball squad continues their winning streak to 13, as they still remain undefeated in conference play with an 11-0 record. This season has given the Redbirds the best start to MVC play since 1993, when ISU won 12 straight matches.
The Redbird football team continues to impress after a late win against Missouri State Saturday night. The victory makes ISU now 7-0, the best start the program has accomplished since 1932. In addition, ISU was pushed up in the Sports Network top-25 poll rankings to No. 7, two spots higher than the past two weeks. The Birds jumped three spots to secure No. 6 in the FCS Coaches Poll.
All three teams will have a bit of a break until the weekend, and from there each team will play Thursday through Saturday. The soccer squad will play under the lights at 7 p.m. against Idaho on Oct. 30; the volleyball team will play Indiana State at 7 p.m. on the Oct. 31; and the football team will travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa, to battle Northern Iowa on Nov. 1 at 4 p.m.
