The Illinois State Men’s basketball team squeaked out a win against Loyola Sunday afternoon.

Loyola will face-off against Southern Illinois on Friday afternoon for the right to play the winner of the Illinois State versus either Evansville or Indiana State.

Southern Illinois (16-5, 9-9 Missouri Valley Conference) clinched the No. 4 seed after defeating Loyola (18-13, 8-10 MVC) in the regular season finale, 72-70.

Loyola is led by All-MVC First teamer Milton Doyle, All-MVC Third teamer Donte Ingram and All-Newcomer teamer Aundre Jackson.

Doyle also received some votes for MVC Player of the Year, being the Ramblers’ leading scorer, averaging 15.5 points per game.

Loyola is 3-3 under head coach Porter Moser in Arch Madness play.

Southern Illinois comes in with firepower of their own, with All-MVC Second teamer Sean O’Brien and All-MVC Defensive teamer Thik Bol leading the way.

Mike Rodriguez is the leading scorer for the Salukis, coming in averaging 12.8 points per game, with O’Brien close behind him at 12.4 points per game.

Friday will be just the 11th matchup between SIU and Loyola.

The Salukis hold a 6-4 advantge in the all-time series versus the Ramblers.

Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. from the Scottstrade Center.
