ISU at BU_Matt Chastain shot

Despite leading at intermission, Illinios State falls to Bradley 75-63 Wednesday night at Carver Arena in Peoria. Guard, Matt Chastain (No. 22) looks for an open pass on the court. With the defeat, the Redbirds' losing streak is now at six games. Illinois State will try to get back on track when Dan Muller's team hosts Southern Illinois at 2 p.m. Saturday at Redbird Arena.

Illinois State University's men's basketball coach Dan Muller announced that junior Matt Chastain and sophomore Taylor Bruninga will end their playing careers after repeated injuries.

"It is never easy when a student athlete is forced to decide between what he loves to do and what is right for him and his future," said Muller. "Unfortunately, that is the decision that both Matt [Chastain] and Taylor [Bruninga] had to decide these past couple weeks. While I wish both were healthy and could continue on the court as Redbirds, I know the pain that they have both had to manage over the past couple of years, and it has been very tough on them. Matt and Taylor will still be a part of this program and we will help them in any way we can."

Chastain appeared in 19 games this year averaging 3.2 points a game. Bruninga appeared in 16 games averaging averaging 1.7 ppg.
