The Missouri Valley Football Conference announced the cancellation of the fall conference season.

In its place a full eight-game conference schedule will take place in the spring.

"The staff was not shocked by it. We heard rumblings down the road," Illinois State University head coach Brock Spack said. "We knew when the Big Sky and Pioneer League pulled the plug, we were next. The players were disappointed, but they are here and working hard."

The MVFC will allow the schools to decide on a non-conference season. Illinois State will announce a decision regarding non-conference play next week. Spack says the Redbirds are looking for non-conference games and are expecting to play Eastern Illinois in the Mid-American Classic.
