Illinois State University senior David Perkins once again led the men’s golf team to a top finish at the White Sands Intercollegiate in Nassau, Bahamas.

The Redbirds tied for seventh out of a 14-team field that included nationally top-ranked Wake Forest and second-ranked Southern Methodist University. The Redbirds finished the three-round tournament with a 12-under 852.

Perkins tied for fourth individually, shooting four-under par in the first round, a one-over par in his second and finishing with a seven-under par for a three-round total of 206. Perkins finishes his season shooting under par for 13 out of all 15 rounds.

Senior Joel Durnford also finished the tournament under par, shooting a three-round total of 213 which tied him for 25th place individually.

The Redbirds resume action Feb. 1 in Placida, Florida, where they will compete against the Illinois Fighting Illini golf team in the annual Tinervin Cup.
