While not a starter JuJu Redmond made a huge impact for the Redbirds.

Illinois State University women’s basketball junior forward Juliunn Redmond was awarded the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week award after her performances against Drake and Northern Iowa. This is the first time Redmond has been honored with this award.

Redmond had a pair of 14-point and six rebound games over the weekend and was a key piece in each of the games. Redmond was a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line, scoring four against Drake and five against Northern Iowa.

Redmond has made an immediate impact for the Redbirds in her first season, starting in 12 of the 18 games that the Redbirds have played this season. Averaging 25 minutes a game, Redmond pours in nine points per game as well as five rebounds per game.
