The University of Illinois men’s basketball program has been having a decent season this year and are yearning to perform greatness in this month’s Big Ten Conference Tournament.

The Fighting Illini are in ninth place in the Big Ten with a record of 8-9 (18-12 overall) with only one game to go. The Fighting Illini have defeated Michigan State, who have been a real competitive team in the Big Ten and in the NCAA for the past few years, at home with a score of 73-70 Wednesday.

The Fighting Illini’s highlight player is senior guard Malcolm Hill, who leads the team in points per game (17.2) and in assists per game (3.0). Senior center Maverick Morgan has also been performing well for Illinois as he leads the team in field goal percentage (56.0).

The Fighting Illini will be going up against Big Ten member Rutgers at 11 a.m. Saturday. Afterwards, the team will enter the Big Ten Conference Tournament, which begins on Wednesday.
