ABBA released new music on Sept. 2 for the first time in 40 years. The group's newest album "Voyage" is scheduled to be released on Nov. 5.

The wait is over for ABBA fans as the group have released new music after decades.

On Sept. 2, ABBA released two new songs, entitled “I Still Have Faith In You” and “Don’t Shut Me Down.” It has been 40 years since they released any new songs.

Along with releasing the songs on all music platforms, they also released a music video for “I Still Have Faith In You,” showcasing their style of music incorporated with more recent music.

ABBA has been known for releasing catchy and unique music, such as the hit song “Mamma Mia.”

Senior elementary education major Kallie Schillo listened to the songs and felt as if she was reliving the first time she watched “Mamma Mia.”

“They still have it in them to make an album just as great as the Mamma Mia soundtrack,” Schillo said.

The release of this music was to introduce their entirely digital tour. This virtual tour will be hosted in London, and ABBA fans will be able to experience the band like they could in the 1970s.

Schillo said she is looking forward to the virtual tour.

“I think it is cool for them to do a virtual tour given that we are still living during COVID-19,” Schillo said. “They clearly adjusted to the times, and I am looking forward to what ABBA has in store for us.”

Senior risk management and insurance major Gwendolyn Thomas explained how the band still has the sound they always have had.

“The songs definitely have the original ABBA sound, and they were really good and stuck to their ballad type of music. I felt that this was good, but I also felt like you would need to be very into ABBA to just throw it on,” Thomas said.

While some students were excited, Thomas explained that ABBA’s music is more relevant to older generations.

“I don’t know if it will end up being as relevant today but maybe for the older crowd,” Thomas said.

After decades of no music, students appear to agree that ABBA was able to stay true to themselves but were also able to adjust to the present day.

ABBA's ninth studio album "Voyage" is set to be released on Nov. 5.
