Bloomington Parks Turkey Trot 2021.jpg

This year is the 43-year anniversary of Bloomington's Turkey Trot. The event will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, where three different races will take place.

After a year off due to COVID-19, the time has come for families to lace up those running sneakers and head over to Miller Park for Bloomington's annual Turkey Trot.

This Thanksgiving Day, participants can walk, run or jog during this event in front of the Miller Park Pavilion, located in Miller Park at 1020 S. Morris Ave.

Sign-in begins at 8 a.m. in front of Miller Park Pavilion's main entry. The kid’s half-mile run will begin at 9 a.m., the three mile run at 9:15 a.m. and the 1.5 mile walk at 9:30 a.m. This is an untimed race and awards are not given out.

A new option for race participants is online registration. Online registrants will be entered to win a chance at raffle prizes, including some frozen turkeys courtesy of The Chateau Hotel just in time for Thanksgiving dinner. Other prizes include Fleet Fleet gift certificates, free passes to Miller Park Zoo, City of Bloomington golf courses and the Bloomington Ice Center.

In-person registration is also available before the race at Miller Park from 8 to 9 a.m.

Carrying out the true meaning of Thanksgiving, there will also be a collection box for food donations at the race for Home Sweet Home Ministries. To see a list of its most needed items, visit its website.
