Illinois State University Police responded to a report of an armed robbery Tuesday.
ISUPD and Normal Police received a call at about 3:30 p.m. which detailed a robbery that had occurred 10 minutes prior.
In a Facebook post, ISUPD said two ISU students were approached by two men in Fairview Park who demanded their cell phones at gunpoint. The suspects fled the area on foot.
The suspects are described as two young males. The taller suspect wore a grey hoodie, face and neck covering. The second suspect wore a blue/gray Nike sweatshirt, patchwork shorts and a bandana.
The students were not harmed and have been provided with campus support services. Following the report, ISUPDÂ continued to patrol and monitor public safety cameras in support of Normal Police's investigation.
For those feeling uneasy following the report, ISUPD said the Safe Redbirds app has tools for navigating campus, including Virtual Safe Walk, Friend Walk and the Virtual Blue Light. ISUPD also offers Safe Walks 24/7 by calling (309) 438-WALK.
