Illinois State football's Fall 2022 schedule was released Tuesday, with the Redbirds scheduled to host six games.
The Redbirds are kicking off the season Sept. 3 at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin. The game was initially scheduled for Sept. 24, but was moved due to the Big Ten Conference adjustments. The Badgers capped off the 2021 season 9-4, finishing with a huge win at the Las Vegas Bowl.
The Redbirds will then begin a three-game homestand at Hancock Stadium. ISU’s first home game will be Sept. 10, when it hosts Valparaiso.
The Redbirds will then face off against historical rival Eastern Illinois Sept. 17 for the Mid-America Classic Game. The 2022 matchup will mark the 110th meeting for both teams, with Illinois State leading the series 58-42.Â
ISU will cap off the homestand with its first in-conference matchup Oct. 1, when it hosts Southern Illinois following a bye week.
The Redbirds will then travel to face UNI Oct. 8 before returning home Oct. 15 to host South Dakota in the annual Homecoming game.
Consecutive road games Oct. 22, at Indiana State and Oct. 29 at North Dakota State will follow for the Redbirds.
They begin the November schedule on Nov. 5, with a home matchup against Youngstown State.
A road tilt at South Dakota State Nov. 12 and a home matchup against in-state opponent Western Illinois Nov. 19 will wrap up the regular-season schedule for ISU.
