Illinois State's Tyrell Chadwick pitches during the Redbirds' 12-0 loss to Nebraska Saturday at Hawks Field.

LINCOLN, Neb. — Illinois State baseball failed to put numbers on the board for first time this season as the Redbirds fell 12-0 at Nebraska Saturday.

The Redbirds' electric offense disappeared as the team could not score any runs despite being able to get nine runners on base against a hot UNL squad that has now won nine of its last 10 games.

Although ISU had two runners on base in multiple innings during the game, the dominance of the Huskers' pitching prevented the Redbirds from finding an offensive rhythm.

After two innings, the Huskers were able to gain an early 3-0 lead over the Redbirds and as time went on the lead only grew.

UNL was able to score four runs in the third inning as the Huskers began to light up Tyrelle Chadwick.

Chadwick would only manage 2.1 innings pitched and would allow seven runs on six hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

The Huskers would add a run in the sixth and four more unanswered in the seventh to put the Redbirds away for good.

The final game of the series has been canceled due to weather concerns.
