IOWA CITY - For the third time this season Illinois State beat a Big10 opponent with its 3-2 win over Iowa Wednesday.
The Hawkeyes got on the board in the first inning with after an ISU wild pitch let the runner score from third base. ISU would respond in the top of the third inning with a two-run RBI from Greg Nichols.
The Hawkeyes responded in the bottom of the inning with a big rip from right fielder Keaton Anthony to tie the game at 2-2.
ISU would stay in a deadlock through the next three innings as neither team could plate a run. JT Sokolove gave the Redbirds the spark they needed in the seventh when an infield single forced a throwing error to allow Kayden Beauregard to come around to score.
The throwing error came back to haunt the Hawkeyes as the Redbirds took the game 3-2.
